Free HIARCS Opening Book DownloadsThis page hosts the download links for the free HIARCS Chess Opening Books. This page will be updated periodically as new books are released. To access the latest and strongest HIARCS Chess Opening Books please subscribe to our book update subscription. HIARCS professional books in the book subscription are many times larger with the latest human, correspondence and computer games. They are the strongest available opening books and are at least 100 Elo stronger than the free chess opening books hosted here. Please note these books are free for you to download and use for your personal use only. Under no circumstances are the books to be hosted on another website without the prior express written permission of Applied Computer Concepts Ltd. iPhone/iPad HIARCS ChessiPhone, iPod Touch or iPad customers can now download custom books from this page for their device. Book subscribers should refer to the subscribers download page for our full tournament book in HBG format. To update the opening book on your device please follow these steps:
You can see the book version number in the HIARCS: Info & Updates screen. HIARCS Chess will always use the latest book available in its Documents folder.
PC WindowsCustomers who wish to use the CTG format book will need a GUI capable of reading this format, ie. Chessbase GUIs. Please save the book in your book folder. We strongly recommend that you "Optimize" the book in the Book options dialog so the tournament moves are chosen. The book is very wide even in tournament mode unlike most other books. Please note for top performance in play you should allow HIARCS to use its own engine book which is included in the HIARCS installation and updated via the book subscription. To ensure HIARCS is using its own engine book, you should turn off or unload any GUI books being used by the chess GUI you are using.
