19th World Computer Chess Championship,
Tilburg, The Netherlands,
19th-23rd November 2011

Junior and HIARCS take top honours at World Computer Chess Championship.

There were two main tournaments at the World Computer Chess Championship, an unlimited hardware World Computer Chess Championship and an equal hardware World Chess Software Championship. HIARCS and Junior excelled in both tournaments with Junior winning the World Computer Chess Championship (with HIARCS equal second) and HIARCS winning the World Chess Software Championship (with Junior second). Thanks to Intel for support with hardware used during the tournament.

World Computer Chess Champion: Junior

The Israeli program Junior won the 2011 World Computer Chess Championship without losing a single game. HIARCS and Shredder came equal second also without losing a game.

Junior impressed everyone with its fighting spirit and an attacking playing style that makes Junior such a unique and interesting chess player.

The tournament saw some competitors on some very impressive hardware with one program Jonny using 800 CPU cores. The final tournament table can be seen below:
