World Chess Software Championship,
Tilburg, The Netherlands,
24th-26th November 2011
HIARCS and Junior take top honours at World Computer Chess Championship.
There were two main tournaments at the World Computer Chess
Championship, an unlimited hardware World Computer Chess Championship and an
equal hardware World Chess Software Championship. HIARCS and Junior excelled in
both tournaments with HIARCS winning the World Chess Software Championship
(with Junior second) and Junior winning the World Computer Chess Championship
(with HIARCS equal second).
World Chess Software Champion: HIARCS
HIARCS won the World Chess Software Championship with an
impressive performance defeating its main rivals Junior and Shredder in the
process. Remarkably HIARCS went through both the World Computer Chess
Championship and the World Chess Software Championship without losing a single
game, a great achievement. HIARCS led the tournament throughout but was pushed
all the way by it's closest rival Junior who also had a great tournament winning
the World Computer Chess Championship.
HIARCS showed its attacking intentions in a number of games but
in particular the wins against Pandix and particularly against Shredder show how
HIARCS' controlled aggression can produce such exciting games of chess.
The World Chess Software Championship was held on equal computer
hardware so each chess software entry was under equal conditions.
Thanks to Hans van der
Zijden for operating HIARCS and the HIARCS team, Harvey Williamson, Eric
Hallsworth, Christian Goralski and Rob Obsourne for their support. Thanks also
to Intel for their hardware support.
Here are the games of the World Chess Software
Championship that you can play through. If you only play through one
game we highly recommend you play through the last game HIARCS v
Shredder where HIARCS shows exceptional attacking play.
